I am excited to write you this letter and inform you of the next
phase of development of YOUR Persian Cultural Center in DFW.
First I want to thank each and every one of you who have supported
our effort to provide community and cultural services for the last 3
years. Our mailing membership has grown to over 1300 people. We have
been able to make a positive difference in the community by
providing a place where people of all ages can come together to
celebrate our similarities rather than argue over our differences.
Our unfaltering mission of providing educational and cultural
programs and events has been our guiding light for over 3 years now.
We want to express our heartfelt and genuine gratitude to our
volunteers who give their time, money and attention to help this
community center, which they believe is greater and more valuable
than the sum of its parts.
Have we faced issues or had shortcomings? Of course, but we have
learned from our mistakes and missteps and will continue to learn
together. We have strived to better our programs, approach to
problem solving, and understanding of our differences. We hope to
continue with these efforts with your help.
As we informed the community more than 3 years ago, the cultural
center is managed by a board of directors and the first term of the
board will end soon. The next board of directors will be elected by
you, the members of the community. More information will come soon
but I am excited to share the following today:
1. The bylaws of the cultural center are being amended and enhanced
to allow the first ever election of the board of directors.
2. Candidate and voter registration details are slated to be
published in a week or two.
3. The election will likely take place around the 3rd week of May of
this year. The exact date will be published soon.
4. You are encouraged to participate in this election and chart the
future course of TexasPCC.
5. The previous board of directors can be available for advice or as
volunteers if they choose to, but for all intents and purposes,
their term will end upon the election of the new board.
6. The next board will need your support more than ever. They will
need financial support (monthly donations are bestů even a few
dollars a month will help).
7. We have been informed that our lease will increase by nearly $950
(to $3200) in November. So we either need to be looking for a
smaller space or have the community come up with more donation or
new ideas for another venue, perhaps one closer to North
Dallas/Plano area where the population concentration is higher. This
year will prove to be a turning point for TexasPCC and we are
excited to plan for it with your help.
Most of us claim to be passionate about Iran and Persian culture and
here is your opportunity to participate and positively affect the
